Mind the Gap

connecting across gender – for couples

8th June, 2019

The aim of this workshop is to contribute to greater understanding and appreciation of the opposite sex  in the context of intimate relationships. This day is specifically designed for couples where one partner is male and the other female.

We recognise that gender is a complex topic and failure to understand the opposite sex or worse, to marginalise the other, has an impact in intimate relationships. Our overall aim is to contribute to more gender balance in the world.

You will learn about:

  1. Yourself – How your gender shapes how you are in your relationship.  The expectations you have of yourself because of your gender. How you can contribute in a more meaningful way to your relationship.
  2. Your partner – What your partner needs from you in your relationship. Some of the things that influence them in life because of their gender. Why they sometimes behave in ways that seem mysterious to you.

The programme is built around dialogue and listening from the perspective of needs.

Who you are

This programme is for couples who want to better understand each other.

We are planning further workshops which would be suitable for those not in a relationship or who wish to come without their partner.

What to Expect

The workshop will be 10:00 to 15:00 with two short breaks. We will provide light refreshments and snacks during the day. Please aim to arrive at 09:30 so we can start on time.

We will spend the workshop discussing and listening to each other in a safe and structured process using an adapted form of the fishbowl technique. You will work in gender groups and witness the other gender discussing topics of interest to you.

Language of the programme is ENGLISH.
